 Oko Akrong PMHNP-BC

Dr. Oko Akrong is the lead practitioner of the practice and strives to provide his patients with exceptional and accessible mental health care. He is a veteran and due to his veteran status, he understands the widespread and often extreme effects of mental illness. 

 

Dr. Oko Akrong earned his nursing degree from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois, he compled a graduate degree in nursing administration from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois. He then finished his psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner degree from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. 

 

At DMV Psychiatric Wellness, Dr. Oko Akrong collaborates with his patients as he navigates them through the process of getting the specific mental health care they need. He specializes in using a solution-focused approach to treat anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues, and other conditions or circumstances related to mental health.

He encourages his patients to see themselves as captains of their care as he serces as their navigator toward improved mental health and happiness.

With telehealth services, medication management, and counseling, he ensures that every patient has access to the highest level of care and compassion.

Olufisayo Omobo PMHNP-BC

Ms. Olufisayo Omobo is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing exceptional mental health care with a profound commitment to the holistic well-being of her patients. Guided by empathy, evidence-based practices, and a collaborative approach, she strives to empower individuals on their path to mental wellness. Ms. Olufisayo Omobo double majored in psychology and nursing earning her degrees from Bowie State University, in Bowie Maryland. 

 

With a robust foundation in psychiatric nursing, she later received her psychiatric nurse practitioner  degree from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. Her training is rooted in the application of current research and best practices, ensuring that her patients receive the highest standard of care. Ms. Olufisayo Omobo is adept at developing individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs and preferences of each person in her care while also ensuring shared decision-making. 

 

An avid advocate for mental health, she actively engages in destigmatizing mental illness and promoting mental health awareness. Ms. Olufisayo Omobo is committed to fostering a supportive environment that encourages open dialogue and inclusivity. She is driven by a deep sense of purpose to improve her patients mental health and committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals.

Elexis Brown PMHNP-BC

Ms. Elexis Brown is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a deep passion for mental health and a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Her journey in nursing began at Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She later advanced her expertise in mental health at Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, earning a Master of Science in Nursing and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

From the very beginning, her goal has been to give back to my community by delivering high-quality, evidence-based mental health care. Before transitioning into mental health, she built a strong foundation in critical care nursing, where she developed the clinical skills, empathy, and resilience that continue to guide her approach to patient care today. 

 

She believes in a holistic, individualized approach that prioritizes each patient’s unique needs, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and empowered on their mental health journey. My dedication lies in fostering a safe and inclusive environment where patients can receive the care they deserve while working toward improved well-being and a better quality of life. It is her privilege to walk alongside my patients as a trusted partner, helping them navigate life’s challenges and work toward lasting wellness.

Courtney Banks PMHNP-BC

Courtney Banks is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), dedicated to delivering compassionate, comprehensive care. She earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she holds a certification in Family Medicine from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Courtney brings a diverse range of clinical experience with her, including primary care, pain management, aesthetics, and both veteran and state disability evaluations. Her unique background allows her to approach patient care with a holistic perspective, treating both physical and mental health concerns with empathy and expertise.

With a patient-centered philosophy, Courtney prioritizes each individual's unique needs and goals. She implements evidence-based treatments aimed at improving not just symptoms, but overall quality of life. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, open communication, and long-term wellness.
