What is medication management?
Medication management is an important psychiatric service that helps manage an array of conditions.
Pharmaceutical medications have been studied and tested extensively before becoming available for prescription. Psychiatric medications work in many ways to alter the chemistry in your brain.
By taking your psychiatric medications as they’re prescribed, you may experience a notable reduction in the symptoms of your mental health diagnosis. For many people, medications work best when combined with other treatments like individualized psychotherapy.
If there are medications in your mental health treatment plan, it’s important to keep in mind that not every medication is a good fit. You might need to try more than one before finding one that works well for you.
Which conditions benefit from medication management?
Many mental health conditions respond well to various psychiatric medications. We make recommendations based on your diagnosis, medical history, and lifestyle. You might benefit from psychiatric medications if you have:

-
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
-
Adjustment disorders
-
Anorexia nervosa
-
Anxiety, including (but not limited to) separation or social anxiety
-
Autism spectrum disorder
-

We describe your medication and can tell you more about how it works to treat your particular disorder. There are antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, stimulants, and other types.
How does medication management work?
We start planning your treatment after careful mental health assessment. He prescribes your medication and sets up the prescription so you can pick it up somewhere convenient. He teaches you about the medication as well as how and when you must take it.

You can choose to have your follow-up visits at DMV Psychiatric Wellness or online with telepsychiatry. Telepsychiatry allows you to check in with your provider about your medication and how it’s working without visiting the office.

If you experience side effects or a lack of sufficient results, we can change your medication or adjust the dosage at any time. You can expect it to take at least a few weeks for most medications to show any results.
