As the need grows in the nations struggle with the shortage of mental health providers, DMV Psychiatric Wellness is here to support a wide-range of mental health conditions and to eliminate the gap of the an inability to afford treatment and the access to quality care.

DMV Psychiatric Wellness uses a client-centered solution-focused approach to work with individuals, families, groups, and community to understand that whole health begins with mental health. Therapeutic communication is an important part of DMV Psychiatric Wellness, including teaching, coping skills, and problem-solving techniques.

OUR PRACTITIONERS 

Oko Akrong, PMHNP-BC, RN, MSN

Oko Akrong, PMHNP-BC, RN, MSN, is passionate about taking care of patients. As a veteran, he knows first hand the effects of mental illness and how it negatively affects qualifications of life. His focus is to provide relief and help patients live their best lives. He is licensed in D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia servicing the whole DMV area.

Oko received undergraduate degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University a graduate degree in nursing administration from Elmhurst College, and PMHNP from Regis College. He works with adolescents and adults struggling with depression, ADHD, behavioral issues, PTSD, psychotic disorders, and more.

During treatment, Oko uses a client-centered solution-focused approach to provide the best possible care. He believes good communication and active listening leads to the best solution, and he uses these skills to help patients move forward in life. He believes hold heartedly that the relationship he has with his patients is one of a navigator and a captain, the patient is the captain as he is the navigator whose job it is to use his skills, knowledge and education to create a clear cut path to the patients happiness.
